We, the people of St. John of the Cross Catholic Church, brothers and sisters baptized into Christ Jesus help one another fulfill the commitments of our baptismal covenant. We use every encounter with each other as an opportunity to unite, love, and evangelize to all.

We UNITE by promoting Christ the one Lord, and encouraging fellowship and oneness in the mystical Body of Christ. We commit ourselves to building each other up. We recognize the value of every person. We embolden ministries and parish activities as one in loving service and in presentation of the Gospel to the world. We reach out to one another in times of joy and sorrow. The young and the old, English speaking and Hispanic members of our community strive to teach and learn from one another in prayer, liturgical worship, and in music.

We LOVE by discerning channels that help express our love for each other, helping and serving one another. We share our time, talent and treasure with our Church and with our local community. We take care of people who are in need physically in our congregation. We focus on caring for one another spiritually by disciplining one another. We share our faith together, praying for each community, each particular ministry, and for each other. We show love to those who may be far from Christ by doing what we can to bring them back to Christ and to the Church.

We EVANGELIZE by focusing on an evangelistic purpose: liturgy, the sacraments, catechesis, works of mercy, Bible study, small faith communities, ministries within the parish, etc. We witness to Christ by our lives and invite others to a deeper relationship with Christ and His Church. We teach our young to know and to live the faith. We provide opportunities for non-catholics to learn about our faith. We strive to educate all members of our parish so that they know why the Catholic Church is The One True Church.
